Palestinian officials and activists have lashed out at Israel after a video showing an Israeli sniper shooting a Palestinian protester in Gaza went viral on Monday.
The clip shows Israeli troops celebrating after the shot caused the Palestinian man to go down.
It was not immediately known if he died.
Israel's military confirmed Tuesday that the video was authentic, but added it was shot months before a recent wave of protests in Gaze.
Israeli politicians, however, came to the defense of the shooter, with some ministers saying his action was justified.
