Rick Scott is the Governor of Florida and, at Trump’s urging, a possible Senate candidate. He was born in Bloomington Illinois in 1952 but grew up in Kansas City Missouri. Long before he became governor, Scott attended community college, then enlisted in the Navy where he served 2 and a half years as a radio man.

At 34 he co-founded the Columbia Hospital Association, which later merged with the Hospital Corporation of America to create the world’s largest hospital conglomerate. But he later resigned after allegedly overseeing what is called the largest Medicare fraud in U.S. history.

As governor, however, he didn’t support Medicare expansion and left hundreds of thousands of Floridians without coverage. In 2016, he signed a law that would cut funding to abortion clinics in the state and he a known climate chance skeptic. His predecessor created a bill that would give funding to clean energy programs while cutting greenhouse gas emissions — but Scott can that when we took office.

In 2014, the NRA recognized that he had signed more pro-gun bills into law in one term than any other governor in Florida history and gave him an A+ rating. But that grade may go down after in light of him signing the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act, in light if the Parkland shooting.
