A Coast Guard aircraft assisted in the rescue of eight men, whose fishing boat sank over 400 miles northeast of Hawaii’s Big Island on Sunday, March 25.

The air crew of HC-130 Hercules were deployed to locate the Princess Hawaii after contact was lost with the vessel earlier on Sunday. A lifeboat with seven fishermen and one observer from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration were spotted near the partial sunken ship.

KHON reported a VHF radio was dropped to the men, and their sister vessel, the Commander, rescued them late on Sunday. Credit: US Coast Guard via Storyful
