A press briefing in connection with the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) Final which will be held at National Stadium, Karachi on 25th March 2018 was held at Special Security Unit - SSU Head Quarter, Karachi. Mr. Maqsood Ahmed Commandant SSU said that special arrangements for the security of the players and spectators have been made. He said that all efforts will be made to minimise inconvenience to the citizens. He added that more than 800 SSU Commandos including female commandos and more than 8000 Police persons along with personnel of other Law Enforcement Agencies will be deployed for the security of the event. Besides providing security, SSU commandos will also guide the citizens outside of the stadium, parking areas and the traffic diversion points. Sharp shooter commandos will be deployed at the high rise buildings around the stadium.
The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team of SSU which is comprised of specially trained SSU commandos and equipped with latest weapons will remain standby at SSU head Quarter to deal with any emergency situation during the match. He said that spectators of the match have to reach at specific areas from 12 pm to 5 pm from where they will be transferred to the Stadium through shuttle buses. Commandant SSU said that security plan has been prepared and it be completely implemented, the roads mentioned will remain completely closed whereas traffic flow will be maintained at the diversions.
