Felix Sater, a U.S. businessman born in the Soviet Union, says if special counsel Robert Mueller finds collusion, "send 'em to jail," reports ABC News. Sater, who claims to be a former adviser to Donald Trump, has been a person of interest in the possible collusion between Russian and the Trump campaign, in part, due to emails he sent to Trump attorney Michael Cohen in 2015. The New York Times reports that in the emails Sater "boasted about his ties to [Vladimir] Putin. He predicted that building a Trump Tower in Moscow would highlight [Donald] Trump's savvy negotiating skills and be a political boon to his candidacy."
"I know how to play it, and we will get this done. Buddy, our boy can become president of the USA, and we can engineer it," one of the messages read, in part.
In an interview that aired Friday on ABC's 'Good Morning America,' Sater downplayed his ability to actually orchestrate such a feat. Sater also noted he was not involved in the campaign and had no advance knowledge of Russia's efforts to undermine the 2016 election. He did suggest that if collusion occurred, the penalties should be significant, commenting, "Send 'em to jail." "Anybody who colluded with anybody-- with any other country against America -- is guilty of crimes against our country," Sater further said.
