The US Supreme Court has turned away a challenge to a California gun law.
According to the court, a law stipulating a 10-day waiting period for firearms purchases will remain in place.
The law was intended to mitigate the impact of impulsive violence and suicides associated with firearms sales.
However, the court justices did not unanimously turn down the legal challenge.
Justice Clarence Thomas dissented against the court's decision to reject the case.
The activist groups and individuals that filed the legal challenge argued that the waiting period violated the right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment.
