Korea has witnessed a sharp increase in public faith in its institutions across government, media, businesses and non-governmental organizations.
In particular, 2018 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals trust in the government rose a lot over the past year, rising 17-percentage points to 45-percent.
The survey offers an annual snapshot of a country's trust in its four main institutions.
South Korea ranked 12th out of the 28 countries in terms of government trust, with Canada, Hong Kong and Sweden ranking higher than South Korea.
Trust in businesses increased by seven percentage points to 36-percent, but it's still the lowest among the surveyed countries alongside Hong Kong.
The Korean public's faith in the media remained at the same level as last year at 40-percent.
