Students at South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida, protested gun violence and showed support for gun control measures on Friday, February 16. The protest came in the wake of the shooting at a Parkland high school that killed 17 people.

Jacquelyn Noval, a South Broward junior, said she and her classmates are tired of legislators not listening to them and not doing anything about the issues of gun violence. She cited how several lawmakers, including US Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, are receiving money from the NRA.

“This is not okay anymore,” she wrote in a message to Storyful. “I should not have cried last night – like many other students – in fear of going to school. School is where you’re supposed to learn, grow, and succeed in life. Why should I have to live in fear that my life may end?” Credit: Jacquelyn Noval via Storyful
