On Thursday, the second semifinal heat of the men's snowboard cross at the Winter Olympics took a surprising turn when five out of six racers wiped out, leaving Spain's Regino Hernandez to finish the race entirely by himself. The race saw Hernandez take first with a sixteen second margin between him and Nick Baumgartner of the U.S.
The United State's Mick Dierdorff took third. The other two racers finished, however Canada's Christopher Robanske required medical assistance on the course.
