Amazon is cutting hundreds of jobs at its Seattle headquarters and elsewhere. The cuts are mostly related to the consumer retail division of the company. The layoffs are happening amid massive growth in other parts of the company. Amazon has promised to move or hire at least 50,000 people at a new HQ. An exact number has not been announced yet, but it's expected to be "several hundred." Hundreds more will be reassigned in the company where possible.
