South Africa continued their unbeaten streak in the Pink ODIs as they denied India a whitewash in the 6-match ODI series at Johannesburg. This makes the scoreline 3-1 and hence keeps the series alive. After India lost the match, there was the obvious talk that Pink ODIs brought back some luck for the Proteas and that AB de Villiers had a positive impact on the team. The efforts of David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen and Andile Phehlukwayo were also lauded. But these were just the apparent reasons. There were many others which were downplayed a bit. जोहानसबर्ग में भारत की हार में बारिश ने अहम् भूमिका निभाई और रही सही कसर भारतीय फील्डरों ने पूरी कर दी. वहीं दूसरी ओर अफ्रीकन टीम ने क्षेत्ररक्षण में कोई ढिलाई नहीं बरती और कुछ जगह किस्मत ने भी उनका साथ दिया. बारिश के चलते जब 34 ओवर में पहली बार खेल को रोका गया तब भारत अच्छी परिस्थिति में था. लेकिन वापिस मैच शुरू होते ही पासा पलट गया, और अफ्रीकी गेंदबाज़ों ने भारत के 3 बल्लेबाज़ों को सस्ते में पवेलियन भेज दिया. इस समय टीम का स्कोर 247 रनों पर 5 विकेट था. इस समय महेंद्र सिंह धोनी का साथ हार्दिक पंड्या क्रीज़ पर मौजूद थे. लेकिन 9 रन के व्यक्तिगत स्कोर पर पंड्या ने रबाडा की एक गेंद को खेला, गेंद के हवा में उछलते ही एडेन मार्करम ने चीते की तरह फुर्ती दिखते हुए कैच पकड़ लिया. इस कैच को साल का सबसे उम्दा कैच बताया जा रहा है.
