A field hospital in Beit Sawa was damaged by shelling on February 6. News of the attack on Beit Sawa came as the death toll in east Ghouta rose due to an escalation of airstrikes and shelling in the region in recent weeks.
The Beit Sawa Medical Center posted on Facebook that their service was disrupted due to the airstrikes. Less than one hour later, they posted that despite the destruction they were forced to continue working to assist the dozens of people wounded in the airstrikes, which they said killed 10 people, including six children.
Many of the towns in the besieged eastern Ghouta region, home to an estimated 400,000 people, have been bombarded by airstrikes in recent weeks. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates 403 civilians including 103 children have been killed in east Ghouta since December 29, 2017. Credit: Qasioun News Agency via Storyful
