Infertility can be found when the couples for 6 months or 1 year of successive trying are unable to conceive. IVF is a solution for many infertile couples who cannot conceive due to reasons like infections, tubal blockage, endometriosis (cyst formation in the ovary) and inferior quality of egg. Besides these factors, women suffering from PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) also require IVF treatment. All the oocytes and follicles are stimulated and just before ovulation and then fertilize it outside with the donor or couple sperm. Once the egg is fertilized it is injected back to the uterus of the mother. In case of male infertility, low sperm count and low motility are the main contributing factors. Genetic factors like cystic fibrosis and thalassemia patients require pre-genetic screening for IVF treatment.
