Dow Jones Closes Below 25,000 After Dropping Over 1,500 Points After dropping more than 600 points on Friday, the Dow continued to plummet on Monday. The Dow closed at 24,345, losing 1,175 points, making it the worse loss ever in a single day and the worst percentage loss (4.6 percent) since Sept. 29, 2008 when it dropped almost seven percent. The drop was in large part due to of fears of rising inflation and potential rate increases. 2018 started out hot for the stock market, closing at a record high of 26,616 on Jan 26.
