The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) used helicopters to help relocate 130 elk to the within the 16-county southeastern Kentucky elk zone.

A clip shared to the department’s Facebook page on January 30 shows a helicopter carrying an elk in a sling bag to a flatbed trailer near the Cumberland Gap area outside Pineville, Kentucky.

The KDFWR say that catching the animals with a helicopter is less stressful for them. After a herd is located, a net is deployed from a helicopter, which is then secured by a crewmember before the elk is placed in a sling bag and carried to a nearby flatbed trailer.

The clip had earned over 84,000 views at the time of writing. Credit: Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources via Storyful
