Shiva followers participating in the biggest religious festival in the state of Deoghar, Jharkhand. In order to pay their tribute to Lord Shiva they collect the water from Sultangunj ,Bihar and walk 109 km to reach Jyotirling Shiva temple Baba Baidynath Dham. Every step in this holy city offers a new sensory experience. The air is saturated with energy radiating from the recitation of the chant of *Bol Bam *and the oneness in the devotion among the followers of Shiva to please their lord with offerings of Gangajal, Bael patra & Prasad.

The beauty of exploring spiritual and religious experiences in India is that the numerous Gods here are not constrained by a single identity but are represented in many forms in life; the Lingam is one ultimate depiction of such beliefs in Shivaism. It is the representation of Shiva and a symbol of fertility. The Lingam in Deoghar, Jharkhand is connected with one essential element, that of “Healing”. Baidyanath is referred to as the ultimate healer and faith in him is said to bring about complete recovery of loved ones from all ailments.

This faith can be experienced through the Shiva-Parvati Ganth-Bandhan or union between the *Shikhars or apexes *of the two temples and the in every step of the 109 km journey covered by the Kawarniyas who collect the Ganga Jal or holy waters of the Ganga from Sultanganj in Bihar all the way to the Jyotirling of Baba Baidyanath Dham.
