President Moon Jae-in picked his new spokesperson this morning.
According to Senior Presidential Secretary for Public Relations Yoon Young-chan, President Moon nominated Kim Eui-kyeom, the former deputy director of politics and local affairs and editorial board member of the Hankyoreh, a Korean daily newspaper.
Kim is a veteran journalist with 28 years of experience.
Yoon said Kim's nomination is a symbol of the Moon administration's determination to better communicate with the people regarding the country's key issues.
An anonymous Blue House official said Kim will take the post in early February, replacing current Spokesperson Park Soo-hyun, who's preparing to run in the local elections for the governor of Chungcheongnam-do Province, this coming June.
