Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been hospitalized with a serious back injury, Radaronline.com has learned.
The 86-year-old hurt his back while vacationing in the Caribbean at the start of the new year, according to a Vanity Fair report.
At the time of his injury, he was on his son Lachlan's yacht when a helicopter had to make an emergency landing to transport him to a Los Angeles hospital.

On January 12, Murdoch reportedly sent out an email to his senior management team informing them of his condition.
He added that he will be working from from home for weeks while recovering.
His hospitalization comes on the heels of a massive shakeup at his media empire 21st Century Fox.

In the past couple years, Fox News underwent major changes in management after the late Fox News chairman Roger Ailes was forced to resign following sexual assault allegations. Longtime anchor Bill O'Reilly was also ousted after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced against him as well.
