The Lab is our weekly office rave up where we live stream our favourite DJs and producers. This week we welcome UK producer and Snowbombing mainstay, Artwork.
Real name Arthur Smith, Artwork spent the late 90s churning out garage bangers and was a fundamental part of not only the UKG movement but also the birth of dubstep. He ran the studio above seminal Croydon record store Big Apple, where he met two of dubstep's finest, the then teenage Skream and Benga. The three of them went on to form Magnetic Man and became dubstep's first major label-signed, chart-topping success story. 2014 sees them back in the studio working on a follow up album and Artwork's making solo releases under his techno alias, Grain. This excites us a lot.
Also making his Mixmag TV debut is Route 94. He exploded onto the scene last year with a string of singles and remixes that oozed bass-heavy house. Tracks such as 'Forget The Girl' and 'Freak' lead to some serious support from the likes of Annie Mac as well as Skream and Benga and since then he's gone on to successfully remix Storm Queen's smash 'Look Right Through' and Katy B's '5am'. 2014 looks set to be another huge year for the 20 year old and next month see's him release his club smash 'My Love' via Rinse.
This week's lab kicks off at the usual time of 4.00pm GMT and you can tune in either below or on MixmagTV.
Later in the evening we head to the home of Mixmag Live, Village Underground, for the sound of Tensnake so if house and disco grooves take your fancy tune in here come 02.30am Saturday morning.
Now in its fifteenth year, Snowbombing returns to the idyllic alpine setting of Mayrhofen, Austria with yet another stellar line-up. The likes of The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers (DJ set), Carl Cox, Groove Armada, Chase And Status Live, The Martinez Brothers and many more can be found in the mountains between April 7- 12.
