NASA's Kepler mission has verified the existence of 1,284 new planets, marking the single largest finding of planets to date. The newly-discovered planets include 9 that are rocky planets like Earth and orbit in their sun's habitable zone, which means they could theoretically be home to life. Only 12 such planets had been discovered to date, and the new discoveries raise that figure to 21. James Valles reporting (BNO News)
