Chelsea Manning to Run for the US Senate in Maryland The transgender former Amy private filed her statement of candidacy on Thursday. Manning was previously convicted of leaking government documents to WikiLeaks. But was released from her prison sentence on May 17. She would be challenging Democrat Benjamin L. Cardin who is up for reelection in November for his third term. Cardin is expected to win a third term.
