Debris littered the beach at Carpinteria State Beach on Tuesday, January 9, after deadly storms swept through the area. According to Noozhawk, 1.76 inches of rain fell in three hours in Carpinteria.
The Los Angeles Times reported that 13 people died due to the storm, and more than 20 were injured.
