Day 2 of the 1st test match revolved around Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya who not only slammed 93 runs for the team but also dismissed African openers Markram and Elgar. Hardik Pandya dismissed both of the South African openers Markram and Elgar getting India the much needed break through. Pandya batted really well as he struck 93 runs. India lost their big wicket post lunch session as Philanders dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara was caught in the 2nd slips on the bowling of Philanders. By the end of the 1st day India lost 3 of their batsman on low scores.
