A spokesperson for first lady Melania Trump has refuted a claim made in Michael Wolff's upcoming book, 'Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House."

An excerpt published by New York magazine on Wednesday suggests that Melania had been assured that her husband would not win the 2016 election, and states then when he did, "Melania was in tears—and not of joy."
According to Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's communications director, "Mrs. Trump supported her husband's decision to run for President and in fact, encouraged him to do so. She was confident he would win and was very happy when he did."
"The book is clearly going to be sold in the bargain fiction section," Grisham commented.
The book also features multiple interviews with Steve Bannon, who makes some rather unflattering comments about Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner.
President Trump was quick to respond, saying in a statement, "Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind."
