UN Plans Tougher Sanctions on North Korea The UN is adapting newer sanctions in response to North Korea's ballistic nuclear test on Nov. 29 in Pyongyang. Resolution 2397 will cut exports of gasoline, diesel and other refined oil products by 89 percent, according to CNN. Counties employing North Korean workers will have to return them to the nation within a year. Nikki Haley, the US Ambassador to the UN, said the regime "[has] chosen the path of isolation" "[and] we will continue to match the Kim regime's choice of aggressive action with actions of international sanctions."
