Padman is an upcoming 2018 Indian biographical comedy-drama film written and directed by R. Balki, featuring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in lead roles, which is inspired from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu . Amitabh Bachchan appears in a special role. Amit Trivedi and Komail Shayan scored the music of the film, with the former composing the film score and latter composing the songs.

The film will be based on Twinkle Khanna's book, The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad[1], which is inspired from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham[2], a Tamil Nadu-based social activist who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine.[3] Padman movie revolves around the story of Arunachalam who invented low-cost sanitary pads. Radhika Apte plays the on-screen wife of Akshay's character, Lakshmikant Chauhan.
