Emerging from the fertile roots/reggae scene in South East Qld, these Sunny Coast multi-instrumentalist percolate a subtropical blend of groove based riffs and hooks laced with vocal and brass harmonies.
Urban refugees now living in Starlight Community, Thicker than Water bonded over a passion for music, surfing and sustainable living.
From Fela Kuti to Tom Waits their broad influences have come together as a soundtrack for their exodus from the concrete jungle to the real jungle.
With music as a vehicle, they deliver a political, humorous, ironic and above all, danceable live set.
Following in the footsteps of other groove based Australian acts such as The Bamboos and The Cat Empire, Thicker than Water thrive on being part of a moving crowd and enjoy the co-created, self expression that can occur when people allow music to move, transform and uplift them.
