Santa Catalina Island, or more colloquially, Catalina Island is a rocky speck off the coast of Southern California that is renowned among freedivers and other ocean lovers for its clear waters and abundance of aquatic wildlife.

This week, Gillian Gibree takes the ferry out to Catalina and meets up with spear-fisherman Gregory Cain to find out more about breath holding and sourcing his own seafood.

Gillian's diving game is a little sparse so as she does a bit of SUP yoga on the surface as Gregory frolics with seals down below. Never has holding your breath looked more fun than doing yoga.
