Refugees at the East Lorengau Transit Centre on Manus Island said a water tanker was brought in after they were left without water for eight hours on December 6.

The group, communicating through a messaging app, said the water was cut because of a “mistake” by workers on the island. Video footage shows the men bathing at a water tanker, which was brought in by management, the group said.

The Kurdish journalist and refugee Behrouz Boochani told news outlets the men at the center also had waited for hours to receive food on Tuesday and Wednesday. Credit: Manus Alert via Storyful
