A carpet python was spotted casually chilling in a Buddina, Queensland backyard shortly before an intense storm barrelled through the Sunshine Coast on December 5.

Pinky Grusovin said he saw the two-metre reptile trying to get into his property through a side door before disappearing into a passionfruit vine.

“Then I went out again and came home a few hours later,” Grusovin said. “I was home not 10 minutes when I caught movement in my peripheral vision on the balcony and was coming towards my open doors.”

He said he tried to pick it up but it was a “little testy and wary” and so just watched the snake cruising by pot-plants, as seen in this video. Credit: Instagram/pinkdetta via Storyful
