Our fave (Memphis inspired) Rib Rub

This rib rub is just magical on grilled or BBQ’d pork ribs. It has a rich earthy taste that brings out the best in your ribs.
Yeah we got this recipe from our cousin in Memphis.
Yeah it may not be the same as your ‘Memphis rib rub’… Get over it. Everyone puts their own twist on a recipe; that’s the great thing about making it yourself.

Ingredients:
1 cup (250 mL) coarse salt
½ cup (125 mL) firmly packed brown sugar
¼ cup (125 mL) sweet paprika
3 Tbsp (45 mL) hot mustard powder
2 Tbsp (30 mL) cracked black pepper
2 Tbsp (30 mL) granulated garlic
1 Tbsp (15 mL) granulated onion, or powder
2 tsp (10 mL) dried thyme
2 tsp (10 mL) dried oregano
2 tsp (1o mL) dried marjoram
2 tsp (10 mL) curry powder
2 tsp (10 mL) ground celery seed
1 tsp (5 mL) cayenne pepper

Method:
Mix all the ingredients together.
Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 3 months.
(but it won’t last that long because you’ll use it all first)
Makes about 2½ cups
