London’s Oxford Circus tube station was evacuated and shoppers nearby were told to stay inside as police responded to reports of an emergency “incident” along Oxford Street on Friday afternoon, November 24 .

News media showed images of armed police inside the Selfridges department stores, after London’s Met Police said it was responding to reports of gunfire. It said, "Police have responded as if the incident is terrorist related. "

In a later report, however, police said: “We have not located any trace of suspects, evidence of shots fired or casualties.”
