Afer a years-long fight, TransCanada, the company that operates the Keystone oil pipeline, won approval on November 20 for the Keystone XL pipeline. The decision comes only four days after a portion of the Keystone oil pipeline was shut down after a 210,000 gallon leak in South Dakota. Brian Jorde, a lawyer representing Nebraska landowners opposed to Keystone XL, told Reuters, "If this spill had happened along the proposed route in Nebraska, it would be absolutely devastating."
