The US Navy has joined rescue efforts for the missing Argentine submarine San Juan, which lost contact off the Argentine coast on Wednesday, November 15.
A submarine rescue chamber and other assets were mobilized from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, in San Diego, the Navy said on November 19.
Chile, Brazil, the UK, Colombia, Uruguay and Peru were also helping the recovery effort.
The Argentine navy is investigating whether seven failed satellite calls made on Saturday, November 18, originated from the San Juan. There were 44 people on board the submarine when it last made contact with navy officials. Credit: DVIDS/ Petty Officer 1st Class Derek Stroop via Storyful
