At a press event on Thursday, Tesla surprised audiences with a new Roadster, billed as the “quickest car in the world." It can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds. Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk said the new Roadster is "a hard-core smackdown to gasoline cars" and that "Driving a gasoline sports car is going to feel like a steam engine." The longawaited Tesla semi truck was also unveiled at the event. The semi promises to deliver a 500 mile range on a single charge. Production for the semi is scheduled to begin in 2019.
