After producing some rudimentary gorge hooks out of chickens bones I set out to test their effectiveness. As luck would have it, I was successful, but further experimentation provide how frustrating and ineffective primitive gear really is compared to modern equipment.\r
\r
In the video I use chicken bones, but a wooden gorge hook would work as well, possibly even better since it might not get so soft and therefore as dull. You can see that this is a difficult spot to fish due to the snag hazards so letting fish swallow the gorge hook isnt as effective as it could be.\r
\r
The key is to let the bait be consumed totally by the fish so that it wedges in the fishes throat or stomach.\r

I used modern gear including modern rod and modern line. I could only imagine how difficult it would be to be successful having to make and use primitive line and a rod.\r
