Police Raid Yacht in $245 Million Cocaine Bust

More than 700kg of cocaine worth $245 million was seized from a yacht at Toronto in New South Wales on November 15, in a joint operation between New South Wales and federal police.

According to police the yacht had visited Tahiti before docking at Toronto.

Police searched the yacht at about 3pm on November 15 and during the operation, a 68-year-old man was arrested on board.

Also, a 47-year-old man was arrested at a hotel at Warners Bay and a 63-year-old man was arrested at a home at Islington.

The purity and exact weight of the drug has not yet been examined but the penalty for trafficking “border control” drugs on a large scale is life imprisonment. The men will face court in January 2018. Credit: NSW Police Force via Storyful
