A crowd of musicians, activists and Philadelphia residents gathered outside the city’s Criminal Justice Center on the evening of Monday, November 13, in protest of the recent sentencing of rapper Meek Mill.
These videos feature rappers Rick Ross and PnB Rock, who speak in support of Mill. Crowds can be heard chanting “Free Meek Mill.” The third video embedded here shows retired basketball legend Dr. J being introduced to also make a speech.
Mill was sentenced on Monday, November 6, to two to four years in prison for reportedly violating the terms of his probation, which he has been serving since 2008 after a conviction on gun and drug charges. Prosecutors, including Judge Genece Brinkley, argue that over the past decade, Mill has repeatedly violated his parole by failing drug tests, engaging in reckless driving and ignoring court orders restricting travel, NBC 10 Philadelphia reported.
