Iranian President Hassan Rouhani travelled to Iran’s western Kermanshah province on Tuesday morning, November 14, to survey the destruction wrought by Sunday’s 7.3-magnitude earthquake in the region.

More than 420 people were killed in the quake, which struck in eastern Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah province but caused the greatest destruction over the border in the Iranian Kurdish town of Sarpol-e Zahab.

Footage shows Rouhani welcomed by a crowd of people in Sarpol-e Zahab, where he promised swift action by government to help those affected, according to Reuters. Credit: Instagram/ahooraniazi via Storyful
