The Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to Centre, UP, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi Government on the petition on stubble burning and dust pollution. The bench comprising of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra observed that it was an emergency-like situation and sought expeditious action. It has sought an explanation from the Centre and Delhi government, also questioning Punjab and Haryana on stubble crop burning. The top court has clarified that the odd-even matter would be heard by the NGT. Earlier in the day, the SC agreed to hear a fresh plea seeking immediate measures to curb rising pollution in Delhi-NCR. The apex court had agreed to give an urgent hearing to a PIL seeking steps to curb rising pollution in Delhi-NCR, with the CJI saying the problem cannot be ignored.
