The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a monster. It makes 650 HP from a supercharged small block V8 and has a top speed of over 200 MPH. For the first time ever, the track focused ‘Vette is available with a high performance automatic transmission, and Barbie will be happy to know that there is now a convertible offering too. Lucky for us, GM had rented out the Ron Fellows driving school at Spring Mountain Raceway in Parumph, NV so that we could experience the full capabilities of the all-new new Chevrolet Corvette Z06. After sampling how capable the car is on track, we took to the roads outside of Death Valley, to experience the Z06 in a more civilian environment. Despite the cars immense ability on-track, the Corvette Z06s Perfomenace Trion Management (PTM), self-adjusting magnetic suspension and Active Sound Management make the track day toy a very easy car on the street.\r

But not before Team Corvette Captain and Z06 Chief Engineer, Tadge Juechter, took some time to talk us through the finer points of the Z06s spec-sheet. Like how the project came together, the technology that goes into making a 650 HP 200 MPH rocketship for under $100,000 that makes Porsche 911 GT3, Nissan GT-R NISMO and Ferrari F12berlinetta owners take notice, and how racing directly benefits current and future Corvettes. However no word on Zora. \r

The Z06 is the highest performance variant of the 7th Generation Corvette. Last year Chevrolet introduced us to the Stingray and now for the new model year we get the capable and highest performance Corvette ever with the Z06. Under the hood is a Supercharged 6.2 liter V-8 motor that makes 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. of torque. This sports car is a monster on both the street and the track. Capable of 0-60 MPH acceleration runs of sub 3.0 seconds all day long.\r
