Footage has emerged of the moment Girona city council removes the Spanish flag from a building, shortly after Catalonia's parliament voted to declare an independent republic.

The video, shot today in the northeast of Catalonia, captures the crowd cheering 'Fora, fora, la bandera espanola' (out, out, out with the Spanish flag) as the flag is being removed.
