Thailand began a five-day mourning period for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Wednesday, October 25. The ceremony involved a procession of the Royal Chariot of Great Victory, holding the leader’s remains, to the ceremonial ground in Sanam Luang.
Performances took place into the night on October 26, with a masked dance show depicting a traditional myth before the cremation at 10 pm.
The ceremony was attended by about 157,000 mourners, the Bangkok Post reported.
