Footage has emerged of a middle school student using a bizarre technique to throw a shot more than 20 metres as part of a physical education test.

The video, filmed in Shanghai on July 23, shows the boy arching his back backwards nearly 90 degrees before hurling the shot a remarkable 20 metres, to the amazement of the watching students.
