President Trump on Saturday went after Democratic Representative Frederica Wilson again.
In the wake of Democratic Representative Frederica Wilson's criticism of Donald Trump's call with a Gold Star widow, the president lashed out at her on Twitter.
"I hope the Fake News Media keeps talking about Wacky Congresswoman Wilson in that she, as a representative, is killing the Democrat Party!" Trump wrote in his tweet Saturday morning.
The president's tweet follows White House chief of staff John Kelly's remarks on Thursday.
“I was stunned when I came to work yesterday morning and broken-hearted at what I saw a member of Congress doing," Kelly told reporters, referring to Wilson. "A member of Congress who listened in on a phone call from the president of the United States to a young wife, and in his way tried to express that opinion — that he’s a brave man, a fallen hero.”
Kelly also called her behavior “selfish.”
The Florida lawmaker had told the media that when the president called the widow of fallen soldier Army Sergeant La David Johnson, he said to her that her husband “knew what he signed up for.”
Amid attacks by Trump and other White House officials over her account of the call, Wilson has stood her ground.
“John Kelly’s trying to keep his job," she told Politico in response to Kelly's criticism. "He will say anything. There were other people who heard what I heard."
