Many Schnauzers have hairy ears. Head shaking and ear scratching and pain are common. The owner is not able to restrain the dog for weekly ear cleaning as the dog moves away.\r

As the years go by, chronic inflammation and infection cause ear tumours. \r

Lateral ear canal resection surgery is advised for chronic ear infection problems esp. in Schnauzers with hairy ears. Otherwise, the owner needs to get the ears cleaned every 2 months or so. Groomer tends to put ear powder into the ears as part of their process. This further clogs up the horizontal ear canal. \r

Dental scaling may prolong the anaesthesia causing cardiac failure. The 2-ear surgery takes around one hour and dental scaling takes around 15 minutes. A well loved dog.
