https://www.flandersinvestmentandtrade.com/invest/en - Flooring specialist IVC, part of the US-based Mohawk Group, is building the world’s largest synthetic parquet factory in Flanders. The company’s American investors were floored by the region’s productive and multilingual workforce, dense transportation network and access to major markets.
IVC takes the floor in Europe through Flanders
Vinyl flooring frontrunner IVC was founded in Avelgem (Flanders) in 1997 and was acquired by US-based Mohawk Industries in 2015. Today, the company has become the world’s biggest investor in synthetic parquet flooring.
“We’re currently building the world’s largest manufacturing plant for synthetic parquet flooring in Avelgem,” says Jan Vergote, CEO of IVC Group in Avelgem. “At the same time, we’re constructing an exact copy of this facility in the US. It’s like a cross-country competition. But everything is designed and engineered here in Avelgem.”
To Jan Vergote, it is the hands-on mentality and top-notch education that sets people in Flanders apart. “I think the Americans admire our education system. People in West Flanders are technically strong, loyal, practical and excellent team players. We are multilingual in design: we are capable of imagining German, French and English tastes and easily adapt to them. This sets us apart and makes us stronger.”
Location plays an important role as well. IVC’s factory is situated near the Scheldt river, which brings its containers to Antwerp and international markets. Jan: “We tend to underestimate our great location among other large markets. Both our position and infrastructure are fantastic.”
Add to that the world’s densest transportation network and access to major markets, and it’s easy to see how Flanders can help businesses achieve big results. Contact the experts at Flanders Investment and Trade to find out more: https://www.flandersinvestmentandtrade.com/invest/en/contactus
