This is the follow-on video from my Can we make toy car wheels from a VHS tape cassette.\r
\r
I have had questions about my toy car projects about what can be used for wheels. Most of the time I use scrap CDs or DVDs. Last night whilst surfing YouTube I noticed a video on repairing broken VHS tapes and I realised that the plastic spools inside the cassette that could potentially be used as wheels. The next task was to find some VHS tape cassettes that I could disassemble. This proved harder than I expected as even charity shops no longer stock them. Eventually I found a charity shop that leaves them in a box by the front door with a sign saying Free - help yourself.\r
Taking the cassette apart was easy enough. Only one of the cassettes had an anti-tamper screw on it, all the others were normal cross-head screws and as I only wanted to salvage the spools I didnt waste time fussing with the rogue screw and forced the case apart with a bit of gentle persuasion.\r

I have over 1800 videos on YouTube covering a wide range of subjects. To find them follow my YouTube search guide or see my playlists \r

Generally my projects are for my grandchildren to enjoy. OK, I enjoy them too. If anybody else likes them, that is a bonus. I like to keep my work as simple and basic as possible so that it can be copied easily and improved by anybody who wants to try themselves. I recycle or repurpose items rather than buy new and when I do buy I like to keep it cheap.\r
