Lace up those boots, fill your CamelBak with wine (please don’t; this is a terrible idea), pack some leftover egg tarts from breakfast, and start pounding the soil on one of Hong Kong’s picturesque hiking trails. And when we say picturesque, we mean real picturesque. On the main ridge of Dragon’s Back, you can see Tai Tam Bay to the West and the clear blue waters of Shek O Wan to the East. Continue on to Big Wave Bay where you can grab some grub and watch windsurfers do things you probably couldn’t even do in a video game before taking a shuttle back to the creature comforts of the city. If you’re really trying to commune with mother nature, hike the volcanic rock formations of the UNESCO Geopark until your soul is completely full of organic splendor and whatnot. While you’re there, take a detour on the MacLehose Trail and get a bird’s eye view of a naturally formed cove filled with emerald water and white sand. Maybe stop and eat one of those leftover egg tarts, too. You’re probably hungry by now.
