Heres our daily feeding ritual. Algae and zooplankton are harvested from the algae beds. The balanced, organic, live meal is poured into the fish tank and both tilapia fish and crayfish begin their feeding frenzy. The waste from the fish contains a lot of ammonia which converts in the plant beds above to aquaponically feed the plants. But also the algae is rich in nutrients and when the water enters the bed it s like a river delta, fertilizing the soil with nitrogen rich nutrients, plus ammonia. In the rock beds are redworms that break down any areas that get too condensed with algae, dead roots and decaying fish poop. The worms play a vital role, facilitating the bioconversion of solid matter. Beria plays a vital role, converting the liquid ammonia to nitrate. Algae builds the entire system with a daily dose of nitrogen, phosphorus, trace elements and minerals.
